ISW'S COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY
At ISW 2028, we are committed to leading by example in building a greener future for our industry. In addition to encouraging our delegates and trade partners to make responsible choices, we are actively embedding sustainability into every aspect of the congress. This is what we are doing to contribute.
- CTICC Partnership: We are working closely with the Cape Town International Convention Centre, a venue recognised for its leadership in sustainable event practices.
- Recycling & Waste Management: Comprehensive recycling systems are in place to ensure responsible disposal of materials.
- No Food Waste: We have adopted a strict “no food waste” policy, working with the venue to minimise surplus and ensure that unused food is redistributed responsibly.
- Efficient Energy Use: Power-efficient lighting and energy management systems are used throughout the venue.
- Sustainable Branding: All onsite branding uses eco-friendly, reusable or recyclable materials.
- Recyclable Name Badges: Our congress name badges are designed to be fully recyclable.
- Digital First Approach: Wherever possible, we use digital platforms – from abstract submissions to programme materials – to reduce the need for paper and printed items.

- Travel Smart: Use public transport, like the MyCiTi bus or ride-sharing options, to reduce your carbon footprint. If you're staying nearby, consider walking to the venue.
- Stay Green: Opt for refillable amenities and encourage water and energy conservation.
- Minimise Waste: Avoid single-use plastics and try to limit your paper use by taking advantage of digital resources provided during the congress.
- Respect the Environment: Dispose of waste in the appropriate recycling bins around the venue and reduce food waste by ordering only what you need.
